The great detective

Just finished reading volume one of the newly released, chronological-order omnibus collection of Ngaio Marsh's Alleyn mysteries. Most library collections of her novels are far from complete and I hadn't ever had the chance to read these very beginning tales before; lovely relaxing whodunit fun and marvelous to see that Alleyn was a well-rounded, likeable character right from the very beginning (rather than growing into being one over several books). Shall have to acquire the rest of these omnibuses and replace my collection of rather ratty secondhand paperbacks while filling in the gaps at the same time. Though I'm very fond of the cover illustration on my copy of Light Thickens ... that might be a hard one to part with.
