Just finished reading ...

... Kage Baker's The Bird of the River ... as always, this last book was a magical, damn-it's-too-bad-that-the-story-had-to-end experience. Makes me wish there was a non-hazardous way to trigger plot amnesia just so I could have the joy of reading this wonderful blend of comedy, tragedy, adventure, and mystery for the first time again. If you haven't read anything of Baker's yet, unlike her Company science fiction books, this third volume in her oh-so-different fantasy universe can be read as a stand-alone (the other two books are "Anvil of the World" and "The House of the Stag" ... they intertwine with each other, but can be read in any order and will still make sense)
