Very very nice ...

Listening to my newly-arrived The Very Best of Cozy Cole CD ... oh, how that man could play! And what he played was drums ... while there are other instruments involved, every track on this disc is all about the percussion. And once heard, it's easy to understand why Mr. Cole made music history by being the first drummer to have records released under his own name (as opposed to just being a supporting musician for a vocalist or someone playing a traditionally more frontline instrument)

I think I have to replay this one a few more times tonight. :-)

More about Cozy Cole here: bio, videos, and sound (including his #3-on-the-1958-charts hit "Topsy")
