Well at least it's not fattening ...

Caught the #3 bus up to Pudding Yarn today ... nowhere near being the closest of the city's yarn shops, but I want another pair of Addi Turbo circulars for sockmaking (I've got 2 Aero circs in the right size, but after using Addis, the Aeros are like knitting with fuzzy pipecleaners). The place I go to the yarn nights at is now only stocking Addi Lace needles because that's what the owner likes to use (fine for lace, which is knitted loosely ... lousy and yarn-splitting for socks, which are knitted tightly) and the nearby shop which I frequent only had one of the size I needed. So, knowing that Pudding has a nice wall display of Addis, plus the excuse that I've only been there once and that was in winter when wearing bulky coat, etc., made maneuvering around the extremely crowded store not much fun ... today being t-shirt and sandal weather, off I went.

Got my needles, yes. And two more skeins of Colinette Jitterbug merino sock yarn in "Bright Charcoal" ... variegated black/charcoal/pale grey, plus flashes of reds, purples, greens, yellow, blues, and all the other colours you see in the iridescent surface of hard coal. And ... true downfall here ... ten skeins of Berroco Seduce (appropriate name, that) in a beautiful shimmery pale bronze/white combo. This yarn is a blend of rayon (47%), linen (25%), silk (17%), and nylon (11%) ... a skein hangs limply over my hand in a way that promises beautiful drape, yet feels crisp and cool against the skin. This will be a summer top ... a tank-style of some kind. And I'm thrilled with the colour 'cause I love bronze. It's rich and deep and mellow and mysterious and makes gold look cheap and tawdry (to my eye, anyway). Bronze is the colour I always imagined gold was when I was little ... what a disappointment when I saw the real thing and what joy when I discovered the metal of my dreams. So how could I pass it up in fibre form? Now all I have to do is track down the perfect pattern ...
