Someday ...

... I'll learn to resist the lure of the yarn store. "Yeah, right," says the smartass section of my brain. "Someday you'll learn how to manage without oxygen, too ... they call it death, so let's not hurry."

But some of it was shopping with a purpose instead of 100% Ooooo pretty!, so as far as I'm concerned, that legitimizes it in some way ...

The colourful 6-ply to use with the black 6-ply already in my stash to make stranded mittens using Armenian technique (I've never made mittens before ... thumb gussets are supposed to be "interesting"). The green and cream are for that design idea I've had ... materials being the first step toward doing the experiment. The multi-coloured handpainted sock yarn is an unplanned indulgence ... but it was on sale, majorly on sale, is lovely, and feels sinfully soft. And the last is Crazy Zauberball sock yarn in a new colourway of pumpkin, burgundy, charcoal, and gray. Since stores sell out of C.Z. practically as soon as they unpack it, it's common sense to grab it when it's there. ;p

And I must say, I'm getting faster and better at the whole sock thing ... I finished the second half of turning a heel at the hairdresser's this morning without even having to haul out the directions (6 months ago I wouldn't have dared do anything heel-related anywhere but in the peace and quiet of home)
