Yes, I'm doing some work at home today (as are others involved in this project) ... there's a fast-approaching deadline and it's just easier to focus on tracking down info for materials in languages one doesn't speak in a comfy and uninterruptible environment that features good music, tasty treats, and wearing one's favourite ratty comfy clothes (Ali Farka Touré's "Radio Mali" playing on the stereo and mugful of Ghirardelli mocha at hand, while I work on tracking down info on lists of German, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Punjabi books)
On the pleasant and restful side, there are two almost-completely-white jackrabbits outside ... practically glowing in the twilight against the yellowish/brownish/greenish grass of the courtyard. Rims of ears, eyes, nose are still sharply black, as if they've been kohled, and the faintest hint of their summer brown remaining on their backs makes them look as if they need dusting. One is sitting up very very erect, in the same pose as those chocolate Easter rabbits, staring very very hard at the back of the other (who is munching steadily and obliviously)
Edited to add: The watcher just did one of those amazing stretches that jackrabbits do ... first the front paws waaaaay out front, like a cat does, and then pulled forward on the front legs and stretched the back legs by straightening them and pushing his rump as high up as he could (which is pretty darned high for these long-leggedy beasties). And from that back leg straightened position he just took off like a rocket, without even flexing his knees! Amazing critters! :-)
