Leisurely evenings

Rainy afternoons today and yesterday have resulted in lovely, cool evenings ... perfect for watching season one of The Hunger. Terence Stamp is even more delicious and delightful than I remembered in his little intros and outros to each episode ... and what other guy on the planet could look so classy wearing a beat-up old leather bomber jacket, old-fashioned leather motorcycle helmet and goggles, and huge, lace-trimmed Little Lord Fauntleroy collar? (among other interesting outfits)

And while the eyes are watching, the hands are busy with gaudy socks progress ... just about at the point to start shaping the toes and then they'll be done! Have extra finishing incentive with the arrival yesterday (FINALLY) of my copy of Sock Innovations (scroll down to bottom of screen to see page samples), which not only contains fifteen of Cookie A's extraordinary sock patterns, but also a great deal of easy-to-grasp information on foot measurement and fitting, calculations and swatching, and ways and means of adjusting stitch patterns to sock dimensions. With clear diagrams. My kind of instruction manual. And, to make me even happier, fourteen of the fifteen patterns can be adapted to the new, easier heel I've learned without mucking up the design. I see a lot of cozy hand-knit wool socks in next winter's future. :-)
