A giggle from the past ...

In honour of regaining a bit more of my time for myself again (not to mention somewhat lower stress levels meaning my ability to concentrate is no longer shattered into tiny fragments), I've been celebrating by doing a bit of re-reading of long neglected beloved books. Currently it's Somtow Sucharitkul's hilarious Mallworld (originally published in 1981). And, oh, it HAS have been a VERY long time since I read it last. Because if I'd cracked it anytime between 1993 and now I would have already speculated about the past recreational reading and subconscious retentions of a certain creator of a great SF TV series who happens to sign himself "jms".

And I'm definitely giggling over it now ... in the Mallworld universe, there's a hollowed-out asteroid that was originally colonized by, and still inhabited by the descendents of, pretentious artists. No other "career"/lifestyle is considered socially acceptable It's called Babylon-5. XD
