(which means I get Monday off ... YAY!!!) February is also the time when annual pay increases happen ... even though sales were down 2.5% last year, the staff are getting a hike higher than cost-of-living.

Treatment like that is why we put up with the chaos and crowdedness and all that jazz ... not freaking out and/or killing each other IS rewarded ... ***GRIN***

**"Family Day" is a fake holiday invented out of the blue by the Alberta government several years ago simply because there was no long weekend in February (their claim that it was to promote family togetherness is questionable, since family activities are more likely to happen at times of year when there's a better guarantee of noncrappy weather) ... it's not a statutory holiday, so most businesses don't acknowledge it, but all provincial and municipal government offices do, which means the schools (and libraries) are closed and public transit is cut back to Sunday/holiday hours, despite the fact that for most people it's a normal workday. As the majority of families appear to spend this day in malls, its existence is rather pointless (not that I'm going to object to an extra day of sleeping in, although a part of me IS regretting losing a day when I normally get a lot accomplished because half of our customers are guaranteed not to call or email ...)
