Christmas, Christmas is here!

No, not really, but the view out my window looks like everybody's no-relation-to-reality white Christmas scene. Y'know, the kind on the holiday cards, where it somehow manages to look like it'd be warm outside, even though the white stuff is falling and piled deep.

The courtyard, being sheltered by its five surrounding buildings, is deceptive though ... in RL the sky is white, white snow is falling, the ground is covered in white snow, and it's -15C (-22C at the airport), with a windchill of -34C, and dropping (we did have a couple of warmish, chinooky days and the grass was showing quite nicely, but that's over), with a forecast low of at least -27C and a high of -24C tomorrow.

Take all that and add the fact that what's falling is dry, pellety snow, which compacts into a road surface that's slipperier than ice and too many Calgarians who have rear-wheel-drive vehicles, inadequate tires, and who persist in driving as if it's bare-pavement summer and ... well I'm glad it's Friday, I'm well stocked with comestibles, and I don't HAVE to venture out until Monday morning (I've actually got a Saturday invite to come over and watch movies all day, with dinner, but it's agreed that if it's too horrific tomorrow, safety comes first and we'll postpone)

You in the weather path know the drill ... be prepared! ***now off to cut tags'n'stuff off cozy new winter coat purchased last night (dark chocolate-coloured ... wearing it will likely make me hungry)***
