Have just finished ...

... reading Serenity Found, a most worthy sequel to the excellent Finding Serenity, both edited by Jane Espenson, and both containing a heaping helping of essays funny, serious, insightful, and thought-provoking (these links include a hefty amount of preview pages for both books ... go look!). This second volume includes Nathan Fillion's take on playing Malcolm Reynolds (including a note from his mother), notes from the show's visual effects supervisor, analyses of specific characters and episodes, comparisons to historical and current science fiction/fantasy/westerns and to history both past and current, and all the other goodies one expects and never fails to receive from a volume of the Smart Pop series.

The preview pages give you the contents and a nice juicy appetizer of the essays, so I'll just add some of the weblinks also in the book ... contributing authors run or are affiliated with:
