Sensory overload and a ton of inspiration

Have spent the entire day (including free breakfast) out at Calgary's Heritage Park attending a massive quilt exhibition. The quilts (656 of them, according to the program) were displayed in the various historic buildings, plus a few tents for the overflow, so rather than handily in one large building, so the day was one long, pleasant walk. Saw one pieced entirely from shoe-patterned fabrics that immediately brought anotheranon to mind. ;-) And then there was the huge dealers' tent. Booth after booth after booth of fabulous fabrics, threads, and clothing ... a kaleidoscope of colours, textures, and pattern!!!!!! I think I'm going to have to go back tomorrow after my brain has settled a little ... I'm still thinking about the imported, jewel-toned batiks; that booth was run by people who have no shop and only sell their wares at shows, so it's now or wait several months until the next one. Plus there were the hand-dyed and painted one-of-a-kind fabrics, the silks, the ... the ... the ... nope, ain't no "think" about it. I'm going back. :-))))))

SUNDAY UPDATE: Yep, I went back. And happily so ... there were three more quilt display pavilions set up (they weren't there yesterday), so more gorgeous colour/pattern combinations to admire. Acquired four metres of batiked flannelette ... background shading from rose to plum, with a leaf and vine pattern that shades from gold to turquoise. :-)))) Designs like this are easily available in ordinary cotton, but the show-only people are the ONLY Alberta distributors of the flannelettes (and there's no guarantee that I'll be able to go to the August fabric "garage sale" in Canmore ... that's the next show at which their wares will be available).

Oh, to be wealthy enough to buy EVERY fabric that intrigues me (and to hire a team to sew up the stuff I don't have time to do myself ***sigh***)
