... 'cause she forgot to grab her notes before leaving work (yes, ALREADY had enough for another book post!). I'll blame the co-worker who delivered my special order copy of David C. Hanrahan's Colonel Blood : the man who stole the crown jewels about four minutes before quitting time, requiring me to RACE up to the front office to get an official staff discount squiggle and then back to the cash desk in our bookstore to pay for the thing (the store is open until 5:00 p.m. the rest of the week, but shuts down at 4:00 p.m. on Fridays). Fortunately I wasn't on anybody's "bad girl" list today, so got to take my treasure home. Plus, during my lunch break I'd FINALLY remembered to buy a copy of Mad night, by Richard Sala ... I enjoyed his previous graphic mystery, The chuckling whatsit, and this one looks equally good. :-)
So much, SO MUCH, good stuff to READ!
P.S. For those scritching their heads trying to figure out where they've heard of Colonel Blood before ... he has a co-starring role as charming scoundrel in George Macdonald Fraser's swashbuckler-movie-like novel, The Pyrates, and I quoted his intro scene in my LJ a while back.
