More recommended reading

I've previously mentioned Keith Hartman's two marvelous novels set in 21st-century Atlanta, Georgia: The Gumshoe, the Witch and the Virtual Corpse and Gumshoe Gorilla. Today I finished reading his first book, Congregations in Conflict : the Battle Over Homosexuality ... a collection of case studies detailing how nine different congregations dealt with the concept of homosexuality and, in some cases, same-sex marriage. Some of tales are what you expect ... arson, threats, Satanic conspiracies. Some are extremely heartwarming ... like the Baptist who voted against same-sex marriage in his church, but, when he turned out to be in the congregational minority (his wife and daughter were among those who voted in favour), was very public about his support for the decision-making process that was involved and the rights of others to hold opposing viewpoints. HIGHLY recommended.
