An email from Chapters-Indigo just as I was about to shut down the computer for the night ... my backordered-FOREVER copy of Deepa Mehta's Fire has shipped! They now list it as "temporarily unable to order" ... I must have scored the last available copy!

Making this film earned Mehta death threats from a fundamentalist Hindu group (this same group are responsible for the vandalism, threats and violence that forced her to relocate the shooting of the third film in this series, Water, to Indonesia). Despite their efforts (or, more likely, because of them AND the resultant publicity), "Fire" is the #1 black market pirated video in India AND Pakistan (it's officially banned in both countries).
