These had me giggling this morning. Not the complete set (there were a couple more that require a fair amount of familiarity with current Canadian politics and the names involved), but this pair are generic enough to make it internationally ***grin***

P.S. If anybody wants the complete set of carols, politics'n'all, let me know and I'll email the article to you.

New Canadian Christmas carols:
from the article "Here we come a-wassailing" (no author credit given)
Saturday, December 24, 2005 Page A16

(to the tune of "God rest ye merry gentlemen")

Courts let ye marry, gentlemen.
Now Parliament has, too.
And women may wed women if
That's what they choose to do.
It's legal to tie same-sex knots,
Though Harper's in a stew.
Ohhh, marriage of gays will take its course, ta-ake its course.
Ohhh, stay tuned for the sequel of divorce.

(to the tune of "Deck the halls")

Duck, the gulls are full of bird flu.
Tra la la la la, la la la la.
Poultry, pigeons, magpies, crows too.
Tra la la la la, la la la la.
Can it pass from bird to human?
Tra la la, la la la, la la la.
That's what science is assumin'.
Tra la la la la, la la la la.
If it chirps or tweets, beware it.
Tra la la la la, la la la la.
If it sneezes, best ensnare it.
Tra la la la la, la la la la.
Shun we now the suspect chickens
Tra la la, la la la, la la la.
As the global bird plot thickens.
Tra la la la la, la la la la.
