The Librarian

Back to work and treasure

My first day back at the salt mines today ... actually got through my email before 9:00 a.m.! Mountains of "mystery" books piled on my desk, due to a library having changed its name and the one person who knew not bothering to inform any other departments (an ongoing issue ... only an axe and a vat of acid will fix it); got the change confirmed, notified other departments that also need to know, and got those shifted to where they should be.

But one small stack of three books were for ME! If anybody ever had doubts about me having variety in my reading, today's trinity would have scotched 'em: "Round 5" of "Ménage à 3" (print edition of Canadian webcomic, Québec anglophone author), Barbara Hambly's The Kindred of Darkness (volume 5 ... there may be a slight theme here ... of a pre-WWI vampire mystery/political thriller series that begins in 1907, with current volume taking place in 1913), and Forerunners of Mammals from Indiana University Press' "Life of the Past" series (palaeontology, of course)

Have promptly started devouring the Hambly book ... don't recall seeing Ysidro having this much fun since his first motorcycle ride. ***GRIN*** (Especially surprised by getting this already ... all the North American publishing sources list it as not coming out until March. But there are advantages to being part of the Commonwealth ... apparently it was released in the U.K. in November and Canada falls within the British distribution for this one)
