The Librarian

A lazy rest-of-weekend

Thunderstorm last evening, rain all day today (with an attempt at tiny soggy hail at one point in the afternoon). Watched Kids in the Hall: Death Comes to Town DVD ... pretty good, though missed hitting that touch of darkness that characterizes League of Gentlemen (the show that inspired KITH to make this series). Probably down mainly to getting used to playing all-new characters ... the League had spent years perfecting theirs on stage and radio before taking them to the small screen and so wore all of them like comfy clothes. But overall, KITH did well and hopefully they'll do this kind of thing again. :-) Also got to watch a hefty new fix of Last of the Summer Wine, so lots of silliness and good lines, especially from Peter Sallis.

Long chatty phone call with Mom this morning and discovered yet another proof of having inherited a sense of humour virtually identical to hers ... had sent her for Mother's Day, among other things, a copy of the 50th anniversary reprint of Peg Bracken's I Hate to Cook Book, figuring it would amuse her as much as it did me (we both dislike cooking and only do it, and do it reasonably well, because we like decent food) ... learned during the call that Bracken was one of Mom's favourite columnists when I was little. I, of course, discovered her much later, finding and buying her book about traveling ("But I Wouldn't Have Missed It for the World!") in secondhand form in my own young adulthood. :-)

A little knitting, a lot of reading of mystery anthologies, and listening to Brit comedy today. And watching the grass turn to green so fast that the process is visible to the human eye, now that it's finally ***fingers crossed*** spring!
