The Librarian

Thought it seemed ...

... suspiciously bright outside when I woke this morning, especially compared to yesterday's grey sky and continuous snowfall. Vividly clear blue sky and the sun shining ... went to check the thermometer and, yep, we've dropped down to -18C in my neighbourhood. (note for the non-northerly types ... up here a clear sunny day means a high pressure system which means bloody freezing ... all those -30C-type days I post about look picture-postcard lovely as long as you don't have to out in 'em)

On the bright side, having taken the first week of January off in addition to the company's holiday closure time means that I don't have to be out in it! :-) Have been having a marvelously relaxing time ... listening to much good music (with the leisure to really listen to it), have read both those Ngaio Marsh mysteries I bought last week, plus finished the second volume of Michael Palin's diaries, watched/re-watched good viewing (padded out by Mr. Palin giving me the urge to watch everything he was writing about filming between 1980-1988 ... fortunately I had the major titles in my DVD shelves), and, of course, knitting (Mom's socks are into diamond #5 now, which means on the verge of finishing the leg, turning the heel, and starting the foot). Have also updated my reading, viewing, and listening databases online and updated the web pages with tons of new links (and just found some new indie sewing pattern companies to add yesterday ... glutton for punishment that I am)

Now that I've seen the weather, I think staying in, choosing something good to watch while getting the Momsocks past the heel and into diamond #6, and then putting on some good music and pulling something new out of the to-read pile sounds a good plan.

P.S. For the jealous, I've also done some domestic stuff ... yesterday a zillion loads of laundry got done and the linen closet is now crammed full of neatly folded towels and not-so-neatly folded sheets and I can see the bottom of the laundry hamper again! (Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. are "sale days" on the building washers and driers ... 25% lower rate programmed into 'em. Something I rarely get to take advantage of). Plus my kitchen floor has been washed. Hell, I might even be voluntarily vacuuming before the week is out!
