Adventures in comics shopping

Downtown Calgary is SO much fun! Downtown Calgary during rush hour, at twilight, in Christmas shopping season, with the melted snow refreezing into black ice, defies description (the deep freeze broke today ... HURRAH!). Unfortunately through the downtown is the only way to get into Kensington from my part of the city ... it's nestled in a bend of the river, on the other side of the river, and there's only one bridge; alternate routes involve driving halfway to the Rockies (okay, slight exaggeration on the distance) and then backtracking east, or halfway to Edmonton and backtracking south. Since the store closes at 6:00 p.m., I figured direct route would probably be best, despite the traffic.

So ... get into Kensington, actually find a parking spot just around the corner from the address (which I got off the comic shop's Web page), stroll down the street ... and don't see the store! Backtrack, doublechecking numbers ... find tiny little darkened, locked door with correct number and little sign on the mailbox stating that it is soon to be an Ethiopian restaurant! HUH???!!! I know the comic shop is in business 'cause they replied to my email!

Fortunately, some niggling little part of my brain that's smarter than the rest of me made me write down the phone number as well ... call 'em up, get "Another Dimension" as the answer. They've moved three blocks down the street. Stroll down, identify myself as the lost soul to the woman at the cash desk, and she guides me to the "Rex Libris". Chatting with her, I mention that I should have checked the yellow pages instead of just taking the shop address off the site ... she is shocked/surprised to hear that the old address is there, as she updated the site when they relocated ... she'll be checking and reupdating tonight; she figures she must have made all the changes and then uploaded the old version of the Web page by accident ... amazing that in three months nobody else has run into the where-is-it problem that I had (maybe I"m just a little more bloodymindedly determined than the average comics/graphics reader).

Ah well ... I got my comics and the shop finally got informed that their Web page is wrong ... two gains and no losses. And now ... FOOD and READING! :-)

Swiped from zappo

Oh dear!

Oh Great Cthulhu!

I have been an extremely diligent devotee this year.

In February, I exposed [info]zappo to soul-rending horrors (250 points). In September, I rammed a ship into you (sorry Cthulhu!) (-1000 points). In November, I burnt my copy of the Necronomicon (-75 points). Yesterday, I made a burnt offering to the Dead Dreamer (100 points). When the stars were right, I legally changed my name to Randolph Carter (-40 points). In October, I rescued [info]kat1392 from being sacrificed (-200 points).

In short, I have been very bad (-965 points) and deserve to be flayed alive.

Your humble and obedient servant,

Submit your own plea to Cthulhu!

Name some friends or leave them blank and let me look them up myself:
