A follow-up to the Apollo knitting thing: while all knitting is, technically, binary (usually knit = 1, purl = 0) most designs are based on visual appeal rather than meaning. But there is such a thing as deliberate coding in knitting. There's even an online gadget to help you do so. Behold, my glorious profession in binary knitting! (for those trying to make the connection between the written instructions and the chart, all knitting charts are read from right to left so that they correspond to how the stitches look on the needles, thus the charted stitches are in the opposite order to their written version)
