Another bit o' great Canadian film
Haven't watched Men With Brooms in ages and ages but figured today it was appropriate for the current state of the weather. Yes, fans of "Due South" and films ranging from "Forbidden Planet" to "Airplane" and "Naked Gun", those are Canuck actors Paul Gross and Leslie Nielsen you're seeing (Gross also co-wrote the screenplay and directed)

Men With Brooms is one of the best sports movies ever! The scene with the beavers...

Sports? Curling is serious religion so this is definitely an evangelistic film aimed at converting all to the one true Canadian faith. ;-)

I love the bit where the reunited team strip off, make their confession-type statements, jump off the cliff into the freezing lake ... and only then realize the rope ladder they used to use to get out is missing. And also the passing of the beets.

Soooo ... does this mean you're gonna watch a certain curling movie sometime soon? ***GRIN***

I'm glad to hear I'm having that effect ... half the fun of discovering really good stuff outside of the mainstream is sharing it.

P.S. Have you seen Chutney Popcorn?
