Bad/Good news

Bad: Just got a call from my mother; my maternal grandmother has died (she turned 97 in January). Hard to grieve really (for Mom as well as me) ... she hasn't known who anybody is or what was going on around her for at least fifteen years (not Alzheimer's or dementia ... just the cumulative result of years of abusing prescription painkillers) so we've kinda already done our mourning ages ago. But physically she was healthy so the body continued on until this morning. It's actually a weird combo of bad news/good news ... we remember how she was once and sorrow for that, but at the same time it's a kindness to her that her physical life has ended.
Edited to add: Just remembered a couple of old photos that I have stashed online:

Grace Browne (Nanny) and Jessie Brown at Markstay, 1936

1936 Peter Browne & Grace (Cochrane) Browne, Markstay, Ontario. On their honeymoon (2)

Not anywhere near the level of bad as that, but downright annoying: It did snow all night. Snowed on and off all day. Snowing right now. Supposed to be more snow tonight and tomorrow.

Good: However snow now no longer forecast for Saturday because it hurried to get here and happen tomorrow instead.

Good: As a side effect of the weather or possibly just the buzz of two months of READING wearing off and my leisure brain getting back into balance ... picked up the knitting needles this past weekend, so as of last night my Null Hypothesis is now at one row past 25% completed (only twenty rows left in chart 2 of 7). Too gray and gloomy to get a decently lit progress photo though.
